Weather and Geography

Barcelona is on the eastern coast of Spain and has very temperate weather. The summertime temperatures (especially in August) can get up to the mid-90's and winter months can cool down to 50's and 60's but for the most part, Barcelona provides ideal vacationing weather. It does rain occasionally in Barcelona, so pack accordingly.

Expert Travel Tips

  • If you need a little fresh air and outdoor activity, visit the 8 ½ mile long boardwalk that runs from Barceloneta to the Forum site in Sant Adrià de Besòs. It's great for cycling and skating.


  • Driving a car is not recommended, as parking is scarce and expensive and traffic can get very congested.


  • Take a wine tour of the Penedès region. The area is known for light, fruity wines.


  • Make sure you check out some of Barcelona's most famous sights like Sagrada Familia by Antonio Gaudi, L'Aquarium de Barcelona and La Pedrera.
